Quick answer

From 26 October to 1 November 2026, Windhoek’s verified programme includes NUST’s research-commercialisation workshop on Monday, Institutional Research Week from 27–30 October, and Windhoek Oktoberfest on 30–31 October. The Oktoberfest organiser confirms dates, venue and gate opening times on its main page, while its FAQ still says opening times are being confirmed; check the official event page before travelling. The claimed 27 October men’s screening was not confirmed on the organiser’s current campaign page, which lists November screenings instead.

Monday may not always be Windhoek’s strongest leisure-event day, but it is when people discover what is coming. DISCOVER → PLAN → BOOK → ATTEND. This week brings research, innovation, business, culture and a major weekend festival. Don’t discover the weekend after it happens.

This guide was checked on Monday, 26 October 2026. It reports events with current organiser, institution or official tourism-board confirmation. A source listing is not a guarantee of remaining places or ticket availability.

What's Happening in Windhoek Today — Monday, 26 October

NUST’s official events listing confirms the pre-conference workshop “From Research to Commercialisation: Turning IP into Income” at NUST Lower Campus, 6th Floor, HTTPS Building, Windhoek, from 08:00 to 16:00. The programme covers ways research outputs and intellectual property may progress towards commercial and societal value, including intellectual-property input from BIPA. The listed audience includes researchers, academics, students, innovators and entrepreneurs. The published application deadline was 24 September; contact NUST directly about any remaining participation options.

What's Happening in Windhoek Tomorrow — Tuesday, 27 October

The brief supplied a “Men of Courage — Don’t Drop the Ball” screening for 27 October. We did not confirm that date on the Namibian Oncology Centre’s current campaign page: its 2026 page instead lists a Walvis Bay event on 14 November and screening at NOC Eros on 27 November. This guide does not promote a 27 October screening. Check the organiser’s page for the current programme and eligibility; this is not medical advice.

NUST Institutional Research Week — 27–30 October

NUST confirms its Institutional Research Week conference from 27 to 30 October 2026 at NUST Lower Campus in Windhoek. The theme is “Advancing Knowledge and Technological Innovations for Sustainable Development.” It may be relevant to students, academics, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, industry and business visitors interested in research, innovation and sustainable development. Check NUST’s current programme for session-level dates, access and registration.

Windhoek Oktoberfest 2026 — Friday 30 & Saturday 31 October

The official festival website confirms 30 and 31 October at Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW), Olympia. Its main page currently lists gates opening at 14:00 on Friday and 11:00 on Saturday. However, the official visitor FAQ still says both opening times are being confirmed. Because the organiser’s own pages conflict, treat the times as unconfirmed and check the official page immediately before travel. The organiser describes music and dancing with Die Kirchdorfer, traditional games, food and a children’s area; its FAQ says the festival is cashless, parking is limited, online tickets are available, and children under seven do not pay entry. Ticket availability and current terms are not guaranteed here.

Discover early, plan, finalise, attend

Monday is for discovery; use Tuesday and Wednesday to check your options, Thursday to finalise transport and entry details, then attend on Friday or Saturday. This is a planning sequence, not a claim about ticket inventory or event availability.

Around Namibia This Week

The Namibia Tourism Board’s event calendar lists the Keetmanshoop Expo for 27–31 October 2026 in Keetmanshoop. For the Erongo region, the official Namport Erongo Business & Tourism Expo site confirms 28–31 October at the Municipality Civic Centre in Walvis Bay. These are regional business and tourism events, not Windhoek listings; confirm public access and current arrangements with the organisers before making a trip.

We found inconsistent date information for the Zambezi Tourism and Business Expo and did not find a sufficiently clear current organiser confirmation. Its dates are therefore not published here.

What to know before you go

No verified source in this week’s checks provided a live Windhoek road, weather, airport or safety update, so this guide does not claim current conditions. Recheck organiser information and your own route before departure. The Namibia Backup Pass is the primary local support option for travellers who want a backup point during their trip; Independent Traveller Concierge and pay-per-incident Travel Rescue are separate, secondary options.
